TEAR TROUGH FILLER

The tear trough is a hollow area that starts from the inner corner of the eye and runs diagonally down to towards the cheek. A deep tear-trough forms a shadow under the eyes and is often referred to as a ‘dark circle’. In some cases, the shadow can extend along the cheek (known as ‘nasojugal groove’) or towards the outer corner of the eye (known as a ‘palpebromalar groove’).

A hollow tear trough, nasojugal groove or palpebromalar groove can be smoothed by injecting dermal filler. Tear trough filler is injected through the cheek using a cannula. This ensures that the treatment is safe, painless and with minimal risk of bruising or swelling.

  • Why is anti-wrinkle treatment effective?
Wrinkles are lines, creases, or folds in the skin. There are two types of face skin wrinkles – dynamic wrinkles and static wrinkles: Dynamic wrinkles are lines, creases or folds that are caused by the pull of the facial muscles during repeated facial expression. Examples of these include forehead lines, frown lines, crow’s feet, and smile lines. These wrinkles are seen with movements of the face during emotion. Static wrinkles are lines, creases or folds in the facial skin seen when the face is at rest and not moving. Static wrinkles can be caused by sun damage, skin ageing, smoking and by long term dynamic lines that become permanent. Depending on the dose used and the age treated, anti-wrinkle injections are effective in preventing lines developing/deepening or to soften existing lines.
  • How does it work?
Botox® is injected directly into the muscles responsible for contraction. We use an ultra-fine needle which is virtually painless, so you won’t need anaesthetic. For example, in the glabellar region between the eyebrows, the strong corrugator muscles are injected to prevent the appearance of frown lines and deep wrinkles. The anti-wrinkle injection tends to take no more than 10-15 minutes. The onset of the effects of Botox® takes no more than seven to ten days and can last up to three to four months depending on the individual. Repeat treatments are recommended three to four times per year.
